The Saturday School program’s project-based structure and culturally relevant curriculum fosters academic growth and social awareness. Operating on three college campuses (CSU Long Beach, Pomona College and UCLA), our effective Saturday School program is the most innovative and student-centered program, catering to 4-11th grade students. Our 12th grade students complete a series of seminars and workshops that prepare them for collegiate success beyond the lecture hall. Classes are designed to prepare students for the academic and social challenges of attending college. Supplemental Services
College Bound’s Academic Advisors provide assistance to high school seniors and their families as they navigate through the college application process. Emphasis is placed on meeting application deadlines and crafting a college entrance essay. African-Americans and other underserved populations often struggle with this gatekeeper to higher education. In response to this challenge, College Bound conducts SAT classes and practice exams at key times throughout the school year to improve scores and increase student confidence. College Bound offers tutorial programs for students in grades 4-12. Our emphasis is on Math and English-based subjects. Tutoring is conducted on a 1:3 tutor to student ratio, and modality testing is performed to identify student learning preferences. Academic review sessions for parents and students in grades 4-11 are held in February and March each year. Emphasis is placed on the completion of the required classes for admission into four-year colleges/universities across the country. Review sessions are tailored to meet the academic and extracurricular needs and interests of each student. |
