Who We Are

College Bound is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization whose mission is to provide academic programs and services that prepare students for admission into and graduation from institutions of higher education. Since 1990, College Bound has maintained its commitment to the educational well being of underserved students through programs designed to accelerate student learning, increase academic achievement, and provide college preparatory assistance to students and their parents.

College Bound was founded in 1990 by two parents, Johnnie and Andy Savoy, who were dismayed at the void of support and the multiple barriers facing underserved students who sought to prepare for college and the admissions process.  The Savoy’s volunteered their time and devoted themselves to provide counseling and instructional services for students and their parents. College Bound has grown from 39 students in its first year to currently serving over 1,000 students and their families.
